Help finding an old song

Hi, I am looking for a song I heard maybe ten years ago. I don't know the artist although it was female. The song was about a child going to college. The only thing I can remember was:

shes had eighteen years to get ready for this day...

It talks about coming down the stairs, the car is packed....

Does anyone know which song I am talking about?
