| In the song Whose Gonna Fill There Shoes one of the lines is the outlaw the walks through Jesse's dream. Dos anybody know who he is referencing , possibly Waylyn Jennings. Thanks for any help you can provide. |

I've always assumed it was Waylon Jennings because of Jessie Coulter Waylon's wife.
The first time I heard that song I was still in high school and it brought tears to my eyes even then. Now as these men are getting older as well as some of the ladies of country music it's even worse.
I mean while there is some talent out there how many of them really compare to what these people gave us? |

Yes, Waylon was the Outlaw. I put some parentheses around some of the names referenced. Feel free to make changes.
Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes
Written by T. Seals and M.D. Barnes
(George Jones)
You know this old world is full of singers
But just a few are chosen
To tear your heart out when they sing
Imagine life without them
All your radio heroes
Like the Outlaw that walks through Jessi's dream (Waylon/Jessi Colter)
No, there will never be another
Red-headed stranger (Willie Nelson)
A Man in Black and Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash)
The Okie from Muskogee (Merle Haggard)
Or Hello Darling (Conway Twitty)
Lord I wonder, who's gonna fill their shoes
(Chorus:)
Who's gonna fill their shoes
Who's gonna stand that tall
Who's gonna play the Opry
And the Wabash Cannonball (Roy Acuff)
Who's gonna give their heart and soul
To get to me and you
Lord I wonder, who's gonna fill their shoes
God bless the boys from Memphis
Blue Suede Shoes and Elvis (Carl Perkins/Elvis)
Much too soon he left this world in tears
They tore up the Fifties
Old Jerry Lee and Charlie (Jerry Lee Lewis/Charlie Rich)
And old Go Cat Go still echoes through the years (Perkins)
You know the heart of country music
Still beats in Luke the Drifer (Hank Williams)
You can tell when he sings I Saw the Light
Old Marty, Hank and Lefty (Robbins/Williams/Frizell)
Why I can feel them right here with me
On this Silver Eagle rolling through the night (George/Tammy's bus) |

| Great sound, Brian. Best of luck to you. I can hear some George Jones sound in Hard Headed Heart. Learning To Live Without You is the kind of song he likes, too. Sawmill has a great, pure, uncomplicated beat. Last time I saw George Jones at Westbury, he opened for Conway-said he didn't like to wait around. Whether you open or close, you'll learn a lot. You can't be with a better teacher. |
