Request Lyrics and Title to this ....

I know this is vague, but I'm hoping someone can help me.
In the mid-80's, there was a country music video sung by a male artist.
In the video, an older man is talking to his son or grandson about a love (first love?) that he had when he was young. He had gone off to war, etc, and they never got back together. He thought about her his whole life.
Near the end of the video, you see that the older man goes back to the retirement home, where, at the front desk, he bumps into a lady about the same age as him. They recognize each other. It's the same girl he had been talking about.
Again, I know this isn't much to go on, but any help with the song title/artist would be greatly appreciated.
