I wanted to get a topic started that would allow us to share ideas on what has worked for some of us...and what might work for others. The idea here is to share with the rest of the community to hopefully make ALL of our shows better. So if you've got an idea to share or even just and interesting story...THIS is where we want to hear from you please.

I'll start- Currently my band "RiverGard" is putting together what we have called a "Show Set". We play at all sorts of venues from bars to arenas and we've got a show coming up next month at which we will be opening for Lee Greenwood in concert (God Bless the U.S.A. fame). So rather than just play all of our best tunes in the 45 odd minutes we'll be onstage, we want to put on a real country stage show. Something that makes more of a connection with the crowd and means a little bit more than the sum of the songs that we played. If that makes sense...then you're headed down the same road we are.

So we're talking about things like scripted lines, jokes, etc...as well as some group interaction onstage between songs. We'll use funny hats (if appropriate) and play all of our original songs (2 so far) along with some other tunes that aren't charted songs that have the feel of being 'original' to us, along with of course a few current charted hits.

If you've ever seen a show in Branson, Missouri then you probably have an idea of what I'm talking about. We don't want to get so ridiculous that it's boring or stupid...but we DO want to provide a show that people will enjoy and remember.

The final bit of good news for us at this coming up gig is that it's a national Nursing convention. So it'll be a room full of nurses who all pretty much just want to party and have a good time. So chances are, they'll already be ready to hoop-n-holler and have a good time.

So now the question is...anybody have any advice, or stories, or thoughts?

Lets hear it! Very Happy
