I'm an experienced guitar player and want to start to listen and learn from some good country guitarists. Where can I begin to compile some good stuff to learn from (both basic and advanced)? Thanks in advance!!

How about Pete Anderson, producer and guitarist for Dwight Yoakam? He has some solo stuff on his own Lucky Dog Records also. Jerry

I think if you listen to Willie Nelson, you'll learn a lot about expression. Willie can't play fast licks, but his simple one-string solos sound as good as anything Eric Clapton or Jimmie Hendrix could ever do.

If you want to start out with good twangy stuff get some old Buck Owens records and listen to Don Rich for awhile. Anything by Vince Gill or Steve Wariner is good for advanced stuff...same with Albert Lee. Brent Mason's DVDs are not for the squeamish...Brent has a real difficult time slowing down his moves and it can be frustrating. If you want chicken picken instructional stuff go to YouTube and search for Doug Seven...he's got that stuff down to a "t'.

I'm sorry...but if you learn to play guitar by listening to any Willie records (at least any after Red Headed Stranger) people will just laugh at you. Willie's entire stick is to play incredibly behind the beat...all the time. He's the only one who can get away it.
